My name is Omar Bird and that is who I am.
At the moment, I am a PhD student at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. I work for a research institute called the Center on the Family which focuses on historical and current political, economic, and social issues in the state Hawaii (e.g., paid family leave, homelessness, infant- toddler educational support and services and a variety of health issues). I am also a tutor/mentor at the Nagatani Academic Center where I assist student-athletes throughout their time in undergrad.
Professionalism aside, it is important to think, act, and pass along a disposition to fundamentally change social interactions and relationships. Despite exlusionary practices, it is important to practice genuine solidarity, freedom, and knowledge that is inclusive to all walks life. For a better world, we must be brave. Id rather die enormous than live dormant. My name is Omar Bird, and that is who I am.
